Alright, this is going to be different from my other logs, but this is important. I was looking for information about RESO, to help with the upcoming game and whatnot, and I stumbled across a strange company called Stupid Software Inc. They made 2D platformers in the early 90s, featuring their mascot, which was this green wolf who was, you guessed it, full of "tude." However . . . well, I'm sending everything over to ABI right now. I presume they're going to purchase the rights to it.

Man, I'm so sorry I keep disappearing on you guys like that. With all the other stuff I have to do, this blog is often the last thing on my mind. With that said, I know there's something coming soon. I can't explain what, mainly because I don't know what's coming for sure. However, this feeling has made me compelled to discuss what I will refer to as living art. I can't really comment on all the projects occurring right now, but I can comment on a lot of them. Take that Robroto series thing, for example. Or don't, since I'm not sure you guys remember that. I should try to get admina to make those videos public again or something.

Anyway, Robroto was a series of odd videos released quite a few years back at this point that seemingly had nothing to do with ABI once Mr. Error bought out those channels and whatnot. Robroto and Viewpoint were entirely unconnected. Later Textspot came out, and that too was unconnected to the prior series, at least for the most part. But, then Fearful Fox . . . well, part one of Fearful Fox came out. It goes on for a few months, and then, Wham! One of the YouTube channels releases a series of videos connecting Robroto, Viewpoint, and Textspot together. The thing is, though, for all of the drama those videos provided, not all of it was true. A lot of it definitely was, but most of it was just . . . art. And training for admina to boot.

Ugh, I know so much about what's happening behind the scenes, but I can't disclose any of it yet. Not until that new project takes off, but first a few loose ends have to be wrapped up. In the meantime, I've heard that there may be a reboot of Viewpoint. Not a pseudo-remake that just recycled most of the old videos. A full on, fresh remake. Of a strange art project! Try to wrap your head around that! Oh, and by the way: I'm not really a major employee at ABI anymore, but admina has, for some reason, decided to let me do some stuff with company assets. How crazy is that?!

Hi guys, it's been a while. Sorry about that. So, apparently ABI is planning on releasing some logs detailing what happened at their pizzeria. Did I mention that already? Regardless, you'll find out more about that once ABI actually gets the log videos finished. However, they seem to have quite a few "cancelled projects" that aren't being used. I may be able to get those uploaded to one of the channels too, although they would be "out of universe," so to speak.

Realtime Software - The ABI Competitor?

Yes, you read that right. Even a silly company like Antique Bandit Interactive had a competitor. Of course, they're even more obscure than ABI is, so it's no wonder you've never heard of them. Like ABI, they were also a mostly-PC game creator.  Neither ABI or Realtime Software, AKA RESO, made any games that actually exist in any major capacity. As far as I'm aware, anyway. There might be some programs floating around, but we both made horrible batch text adventures. The thing is, though, RESO had a mascot. It was some sort of orange raccoon-pigeon-wolf hybrid. They never made a game for him, but they were trying to. This is kind of a Black Mesa versus Aperture Science situation. One company accidentally caused the end of the world, the other made an AI that would probably end the world anyway by enslaving mankind and forcing everyone to do tests until they died, or were killed by the AI. RESO also made an AI, except it was in the form of their mascot. I think his name was Reactor.

Seeing as our competitor (Mr. Error deemed RESO as our competitor) had a mascot and we didn't, Mr. Error set us to work on making a game that would have our mascot. Fearful Fox wasn't the first choice, but he kind of became our mascot by default. Guess it was the same with RESO and Reactor. If you're wondering, yes, Reactor was to get his own 3D platformer. Yes, I'm almost 100% certain Mr. Error heard of it, and told us to make a game to compete. However, while we actually have something to show for our efforts, RESO doesn't.

Last I checked, RESO is still around, but their mascot mysteriously disappeared. Their mascot also had its own AI, but I recall a post from the 90s or early 2000s about their AI being forced to feel the pain of death in a game or something, and then their mascot AI . . . escaped? Kind of like what happened to our Fearful Fox AI. Hmm, wonder if they'll meet.

What Is Fearful Fox Exactly?

So, here's a fun fact: from what I recall, we used to use pseudonyms that were based on the titles of songs. As you can guess, that got super weird super fast. Anyway, you're certainly not here to learn about that. What you're curious about is Fearful Fox. If you've been keeping up with edits to the website and Tumblr, you might have seen things about something called Fearful Fox. If you've watched the YouTube videos and listened to the radio broadcasts, you've probably also heard about it. But, what is it exactly?

Fearful Fox started life as a game back in 1994 or 1995. Around the time development on the new Nintendo console was being done. If you're wondering, of course we weren't a developer Nintendo looked at. We hardly even existed. It's hard to explain, but ABI basically exists in a half-universe, on a plane between your universe and an alternate universe. That's why we can communicate with you guys, and why we are able to acknowledge elements from your universe. It's unclear if we had our own gaming behemoths in an alternate universe, and simply don't remember.

Anyway, the company CEO, Mr. Error, wanted to make a 3D game. This was after making some text adventures that only half-exist, and some failed 2D game projects. Mr. Error thought we could do it though. In our universe, there's this crummy company called HEPA, or Humans Efficiently Protecting Animals or something. It's not a good company, like at all. So, it's not like we were attacking some innocent company. However, we're a very unknown company. I don't know what Mr. Error was thinking when he told us to make a game to go after that company.

That wasn't one of the only reasons for the game, though, but I'll get into that in a future post. The point is, we were working on the game. Unlike other 3D games though, Mr. Error wanted this game to be ambitious. He wanted it to include everything. If you've heard how development for Duke Nukem Forever went, that's basically what we went through. When Nintendo introduced the microphone peripheral with Hey You, Pikachu!, we were told to incorporate that into the game somehow. It wasn't as hard as you might think though. This is because the game engine incorporated a very advanced AI that was based on a then-new AI we had made, named admina.

admina is this AI that was based on an older AI that just formed out of nowhere one day. admina is basically a very advanced, refined version of that. With Fearful Fox, we were using a much less advanced AI, but the idea was the same. The AI would generate levels and change geometry and story elements and whatnot based on how the player played. Very advanced. It's a wonder we even got into the game creating phase. However, that did come at the cost of us taking forever to work on it. Even worse, Mr. Error wanted us to port the game to the Dreamcast, then the PS2, hey, the Gamecube's out, port it to that, and might as well port it to the Xbox as well. When he suggested we port it to the Gameboy Advance and DS, and even the Super Nintendo and Genesis, we had to tell him that those consoles couldn't handle such a large project, so we were told to make a 2D version for those platforms. We also were instructed to try and port the game to the Neo Geo Pocket Color, the CD-i, the 3DO, and other CD "consoles." Then there was a bunch of peripherals that would connect your console to the internet or something. Meant to allow the game to communicate to you still.

By 2004, Mr. Error realized the game was never coming out, so he decided to cut his losses. The game was apparently scrapped or something. I don't have any assets from it, sorry. Of course, in the 2010s, when the nostalgia wave hit, people started looking into old and unreleased games, and of course somebody found some assets from the Fearful Fox project.

From what I recall of the game, you played as Fearful Fox. His goal was to guide 25 other alliteratively named animals out of a factory. Or that was one version, anyway. I think there's another version with a design doc showed off in some video, I can't remember. However, back in 2020 or 2021, a reboot of the game was started. This time, it had a much more advanced AI. The logs I mentioned previously should delve more into that. In the meanwhile, I shall get to work discussing another reason for making Fearful Fox, or trying to.

Hello.

If you are reading this right now, then you must be very confused. You might be wondering, "who are you?" Well, I can't give you a name for reasons, but just know that I am an ex-employee of Antique Bandit Interactive. I left under somewhat-hostile terms while Mr. Error was in charge, but it appears that admina is doing well as the new CEO, for the most part.

You now might be wondering what this is. The thing is, I managed to access some old servers inside the company computer terminals that were once used for creating logs and whatnot. Due to the nature of this kind of program, we all share one account, but that's alright. I have little reason to believe that admina will try to take down these logs.

The goal of this "blog" is to detail my experiences, and to share things that admina might not be even aware are hiding inside her extensive databanks. I also want to try and make it clear what all happened, exactly. There's currently some logs that admina is trying to get uploaded to one of the company YouTube channels, but they're taking a while to process. As such, some of the things I say here may make information learned from those somewhat redundant, but I'll try my best to not explain too much of the content featured in the logs.

In the meanwhile, welcome to this new blog.
